This Notice of Race provides athletes, coaches, and Member National Authorities with essential information regarding the event’s rules, regulations, entry and qualification system, format, scoring, schedule, and field of play details.
As the absolute pinnacle of international sailing outside of the Olympic Games, the 2027 World Sailing Championships will bring together an estimated 1,300 of the world’s elite sailors across both venues as part of a new split-format event.

Following its successful integration in previous cycles, the event will once again feature Inclusive events, with Para world titles awarded to eligible Para-classified athletes, where applicable, highlighting the global growth and inclusivity of the sport.
In Fortaleza, the reliable trade winds and challenging swell will offer a world-class, demanding arena for the world’s best in six events, with 640 athletes expected in Brazil for the Men’s and Women’s Windsurfing, Men’s and Women’s Kite, and Men’s and Women’s Dinghy.
Meanwhile, Gdynia in Poland will stage the Men’s and Women’s Skiff, Mixed Dinghy, and Mixed Multihull in July 2027. Preparations for the World Sailing Championship test event in Gdynia, held from 14-19 July 2026, are currently underway.

Crucially, with the event taking place just one year out from the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, world championship titles and highly coveted Olympic qualification will be on the line across six of the Olympic events.
All athlete registration and entry forms must be processed and submitted directly through each country’s respective Member National Authority via their appointed Team Leaders.
The 2027 World Sailing Championships in Fortaleza is organised by World Sailing with the support of the Brazilian Federal Government, through the Ministry of Sport, and the Municipality of Fortaleza, through the Municipal Secretariat of Sport and Leisure of Fortaleza and the Municipal Secretariat of Tourism of Fortaleza, and will be organised by the Brazilian Sailing Confederation (CBVela), in partnership with the Sailing and Motor Federation of the State of Ceará (FVMEC).
