In October 2018, the Club Nautico Sudeste in San Isidro, Argentina will be filled with eager young sailors looking to take home a Youth Olympic Games medal. This week the mood was a little less competitive as 42 coaches were in attendance for the World Sailing Level 1 Technical Course for Coaches (TCC).

Taking place from the 26 – 30 March, World Sailing Regional Development Coordinator Eduardo Sylvestre, who was assisted by expert coaches from the host country, welcomed the attendees to cover a selection of topics across a range of boats as well as kite and windsurfing equipment.

Sylvestre shared his thoughts on the week saying, “This course was great. We had a good amount of coaches from all disciplines who were eager to learn. The variety also gave us the opportunity to integrate a lot of areas and cover a wider knowledge base to show that programs and coaching can cross disciplines.”

One of the coaches in attendance, National Development Coordinator and FAY Coach, Hermann Villa, perfectly summed up the aim of the World Sailing courses saying, “I think this was an excellent experience for all our coaches, and the beginning of our National Organization learning system. For as a National Authority this is absolutely necessary.”

Nicolas Schaygorodsky, FAY coach, also highlighted the course as “a great instrument for anyone to start as a sailing instructor”.

The next TCC Level 1 course will be in the Dominican Republic in May 2017 and will cover both sailing and windsurfing.
