VIDEO - Your quick guide to Paralympic Sailing

The Sailing Competition at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games will start on Monday 12 September at 13:00 local time. In total, 80 sailors from 23 nations will race in 41 boats across three Paralympic Events in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

There will be 11 races for all fleets, the One Person Keelboat (2.4 Norlin OD), Two Person Keelboat (SKUD18) and the Three Person Keelboat (Sonar).

Keelboats offer more stability during sailing and can be adapted for any impairment.
 
The 2.4 Norlin OD is open to any competitor with male and female athletes racing in the same fleet.
 
The SKUD18 must be sailed by one male and one female athlete, one of which should be two classification points* or lower [severely disabled].
 
The Sonar is sailed by any mixture of men and women with a maximum of 14 classification points.

RIO 2016 PARALYMPIC SAILING COMPETITION

The Rio 2016 Paralympic Sailing Competition will take place at the Marina da Glória, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and will feature 80 athletes from 23 nations competing across three events. Racing is scheduled to take place from 12-17 September 2016 and the competition format for all events is fleet racing.
