Pre-Game Show - 49er - What they said

Peter Burling and Blair Tuke (NZL) may have already wrapped up gold in the 49er but silver and bronze is still all to play for.

Peter Burling and Blair Tuke (NZL) may have already wrapped up gold in the 49er but silver and bronze is still all to play for.

Catch a glimpse of what the sailors are thinking ahead of their start and check out the line up below:

Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen – Australia

Outteridge – Feeling good, happy to see good breeze on the course and looking forward to a good race and a battle for the medals. I was a disappointed earlier in the week but we sailed well in the second half of the regatta to give ourselves a chance for the silver, I think Pete and Blair sailed very well all week and have shown they are deserving champions. Were in a very close battle with the Germans and the British just behind us so were just focusing on today’s race and trying to do the best we can.

Jensen – We’re just going to try and get off the start well and get to the top mark in a good position and assess the situation from there really.

Peter Burling and Blair Tuke – New Zealand

We’re feeling good it’s a beautiful day here in Rio and hopefully the wind stays around for when we race at 14:30. It’s an amazing feeling for us to already have it wrapped up but we’re certainly going to go out there and put our best foot forward and finish off in style. It should be a really fun race.

Dylan Fletcher and Alain Sign – Great Britain

Fletcher – We’re excited for the medal race we’ve got nothing to lose and we’ll be doing everything we can so we are looking forward to it. Everything’s a game, we were in a similar position at the World Championships earlier this year and came away with a bronze so if we can repeat that then we’ll be over the moon.

Sign – We’ve got everything to gain and we just want to go out and execute our own race and I think second and third are pretty close together so they’ve got to be watching their backs a little bit so we just want to perform the best we can today.
