Pre-Game Show - Laser - What they said

It was a frustrating day for the Laser fleet as they waited ashore all day for their Medal Races at the Rio 2016 Olympic Sailing Competition.

They will be looking to get their Medal Race in today and conclude the competition.

Robert Scheidt – Brazil
 
I think I am pretty calm. The situation in points is not easy but it’s also not impossible. I believe in my chances and I will go out there and do my best and hope the results work in my side.
 
I like every condition. If it’s light there’s a bit more possibility for a mixed result but it will be better for me to have light and tricky conditions.
 
I think the tension is bigger when you are already in the medal positions because you have more to lose. When you’re not in a medal position you try to catch up so the tendencies that you feel you have to do something and you have to keep calm. That’s how I feel now, I’m pretty calm.
 
Sam Meech – New Zealand
 
I’m excited, I’m a little bit nervous, obviously. Tonci’s slipped away a bit, he’s sailed really well so deserves it. I’m going to try and have a good race and keep out of trouble where I can.
 
Tom Burton – Australia
 
I feel good, I’ve been feeling pretty chilled out. Obviously we’ll have to wait and see what happens. Ten points is doable but it is a big gap, we’ll have to see what the breeze is and then what happens in the race.
 
Light winds are fine; any breeze is good. It’s only a short race so it will be quick and tight. Tactics will change depending on the breeze and what happens with the other boats. It will be a seat of your pants race and we’ll have to wait for some last minute decisions.
