Ahead of the Men’s RS:X Medal Race the sailors are passing through the Mixed Zone.

Catch a glimpse of what they’re thinking ahead of their 13:00 local time start and check out the line up below:

Pierre le Coq – France

How do you feel?

I feel good, I had a good night yesterday. Right now I’m feeling physically ready for the fight. I know it will be a very hard battle with the Polish guy and the Greek guy but it’s the beauty of the sport.

I do this sport for this type of moment. It’s a very stressful moment but also it’s very enjoyable. Now I feel confident about my speed, my physical and I will do my best to have a clean start, get in some good winds with some good tactics. That’s all.

We are three able to fight for the bronze so it’s impossible to have a strategy to control the two guys. I will just do my best and we will see at the end.

Byron Kokkalanis received a two point penalty for not turning up to equipment inspection, thoughts on that?

“Good news for us, bad news for him. Sailing is crazy because it’s not finished until the end. We have a lot of rules and a lot of days of competition. Mentally its very challenging to be focused all the way through to the end but that is the game. “

Nick Dempsey – Great Britain

How do you feel? Could this be your last Olympic race?

I feel great. It might be my last race but I don’t know.

I feel really relaxed but still on it. I still want to do well today, it’s the last race of the Olympic games. It’s a nice opportunity to race without the pressure. It’s just nice being in the Olympics on the final day without the nerves and watching other people suffer a bit. It’s quite relaxing.

Byron Kokkalanis – Greece

How do you feel?

I feel that I have to do what I have to do. It’s a ten point difference to the bronze medal so I just have to give my best and hope that I have a combination of 4 or 5 places to gain. For me I have more to gain than to lose. I just have to give my best and see what comes out.

Thoughts on the two point penalty?

It was just a mistake, it’s funny because my coach was here earlier this morning but rules are rules so we have to accept it and move on. It’s not the first time it’s happened to someone so I’ll forget about it and give my best.

Dorian van Rijsselberghe – The Netherlands

How do you feel?

I feel good, I’m pretty happy. What can I say, I’m happy to go sailing today and I’ve had a wonderful week. The plan for today is to sail properly and try my best, that’s all I can do.
