World Sailing is the world governing body for the sport of sailing, officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

World Sailing is responsible for:

• the promotion of the sport internationally;
• managing sailing at the Olympic and Paralympic Games;
• developing the Racing Rules of Sailing and regulations for all sailing competitions;
• the training of judges, umpires and other administrators;
• the development of the sport around the world; and
• representing sailors in all matters concerning the sport.

The principal members of World Sailing are the 145 ‘Member National Authorities’ (MNAs) and the 100+ ‘Class Associations’.

The Para World Sailing Manager will support the Head of International Development, implementing World Sailing Integrity frameworks by working closely with all World Sailing Departments and with key stakeholders.

Responsible for the Para World Sailing Development Program;

• Promote and develop Para World Sailing with the objective of sailing being reinstated to the Paralympic Games;
• Manage and build key relationships with all Para World Sailing stakeholders including the International Paralympic Committee, Member National Federations, National Paralympic Committees, Athletes, Coaches, Classes and Manufacturers.
• Support the work of the Para World Sailing Committee and establish key targets and goals for the development of Para World Sailing;
• Manage Para World Sailing Development Programme with the aim of giving more disabled sailors more access to top level competition and develop Para Sailing globally.
• Support the work of the World Sailing Committees or Commissions, including international travel to meeting and events.
• Actively promote World Sailing’s initiatives on gender equality, diversity and sustainability.
• Support the development of Para World Sailing race officials.
• Manage Para World Sailing rankings.
• Develop KPI’s and reporting frameworks to track and report on progress to key stake holders and partners.
• Any other business as directed by the Head of International Development.

Strategic reporting to:
• Line Manager – Head of International Development.

Support & Guidance to:
• World Sailing staff, Board, World Sailing Committees, Member National Authorities and Class Associations.

Interfaces:
• International Paralympic Committee
• Organising Committees for multi-sport and World Sailing events

Essential

The personal profile and experience shall include but are not limited to the following:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position, preferably a track record in both grass root and the elite end of sport.
• Passion for Paralympic sport and a commitment to developing Para World Sailing;
• Exceptional communication, influencing and interpersonal skills;
• Available to spend periods of time at events and meetings around the world;
• Sound judgement and common sense in high pressure situations;
• Ability to manage both professionals and volunteers to achieve success;
• Capacity to interact with people from different countries and cultures;
• High level of personal presentation, preparation and organisation;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Desirable

• Experience of sail racing.
• Experience of event management at international sailing events;
• Ability to speak another language (French or Spanish) in addition to English.
• Good knowledge World Sailing rules and regulations.
