Compensation: Volunteer roles. All reasonable travel and operational expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with World Sailing’s Expenses Policy.

World Sailing is the world governing body for the sport of sailing, officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). As a pioneer in digital sailing, World Sailing is committed to advancing eSailing as a competitive, credible, and inclusive discipline.

Following the success of past World Championships and in preparation for the Olympic Esports Games, World Sailing is seeking qualified and passionate individuals to help deliver fair, well-managed eSailing competitions across our global calendar.

Successful applicants will serve either as eSailing Race Officers or as eSailing Protest Committees, supporting events from qualification through to finals. These roles are vital to ensuring the integrity, fairness, and smooth delivery of eSailing competitions hosted by World Sailing.

eSailing Race Officer:

• Manage race creation and execution using approved digital platforms (i.e., Virtual Regatta).
• Ensure that race formats, schedules, and course settings adhere to the Notice of Race and implement and manage all event documentation like Sailing Instructions.
• Monitor and oversee racing activity during live events.
• Collaborate with other Race Officers, Protest Committees, and platform representatives to ensure seamless operation.

eSailing Protest Committee:

• Manage request for hearings and rule infringement in accordance with the RRS
• Ensure a fair, independent, and timely resolution of disputes.
• Uphold sportsmanship and rule compliance at all levels of competition.
• Support education, promote the fairness culture and consistent rule interpretation across the eSailing community.

• Head of eSailing

Support & Collaboration with:

• Fellow Race Officials
• Platform manufacturers (i.e., Virtual Regatta)

Essential:

• National and/or International Judge or Race Officer qualification.
• Demonstrated experience officiating in either traditional sailing or eSailing events.
• In-depth knowledge of the Racing Rules of Sailing, World Sailing codes and their application including in digital formats.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote and fast-paced environment.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Commitment to fairness, integrity, and World Sailing’s values.

Desirable:

• Experience in previous World Sailing eSailing events or international esports events.
• Fluency in additional languages.
• Familiarity with event management systems and digital officiating tools. (i.e. Sailranks, Discord and Twitch)
• Recommendation or endorsement from a Member National Authority
