VI Webinars drive global momentum

The recent Vision Impairment (VI) webinar series has marked a significant step forward for VI Sailing, bringing together sailors, coaches and stakeholders from across the world in a truly collaborative conversation about the future of the discipline.

Led by Lucy Hodges MBE, the webinar series has played a critical role in not only connecting the global VI community, but also actively supporting the development of new nations entering the sport.

This is a huge moment for VI sailing. For the first time, we are seeing genuine alignment between World Sailing and Blind Sailing International (BSI), working together to shape a clear, unified pathway for the future of VI competition.

The discussions focused on the foundations that matter – building strong volunteer support, bringing new sailors into the sport safely while keeping the fun at its core, and strengthening coaching structures. At the same time, the sessions looked ahead, exploring how we continue to develop racing skills and create sustainable pathways for progression.

If you were not able to join the sessions, recordings are now available here.

World Sailing will continue to host future webinars with the VI community, so pleasecontact us if there are any specific topics you would like covered. This is a shared conversation, and it should be shaped together.
