Captain Sharma was widely respected for his unwavering belief that sailing should be accessible to all. Through his leadership and quiet determination, he worked to create meaningful opportunities and sustainable structures for sailors of every ability, translating vision into tangible progress both nationally and internationally.
His support for inclusive sailing was evident on the global stage at the World Sailing Inclusion Championships in Oman, where he championed the role of major events in driving change and showcasing the potential of a truly inclusive sport.

Across the region, Captain Sharma played an influential role in the Asian Inclusive Sailing Series, viewing it as a platform to nurture emerging talent and strengthen pathways. His forward-looking vision included plans for a future Eurasian Cup, reflecting his ambition to build stronger competitive links between continents.
He was also an early and passionate supporter of the World Sailing Inclusive Development Programme, recognising its importance in creating long-term opportunities for more sailors to compete internationally.
