Classification remains a major focus area for Para Inclusive Sailing in 2026, with significant progress now underway.

The Classification Sub-Committee is fully formed, bringing together all 11 International Classifiers in a dedicated structure to lead the next phase of development. Work is progressing on updated Classification Rules, alignment with the IPC Classification Code, and the development of a new, modernised classification database.

To support transparency and engagement, World Sailing will host Classification Town Halls and Webinars in February. These sessions will provide updates on:

  • the Underlying Health Criteria (UHC),
  • the timeline for Classification Rule changes in 2026,
  • progress on the new database project,
  • and the inclusion of Cognitive Impairment at the World Sailing Inclusion Championships in October 2026.

Classification is fundamental to fairness, credibility, and athlete confidence. The approach for 2026 is consultation-led, evidence-based, and phased – ensuring clarity and trust across the sailing community.

Please find the schedule for the webinars below. There will be two sessions of the same presentation, one scheduled to be convenient for participants in Asia/Oceania time zones, and one suitable for viewers Africa/Europe/America.
