Grand Final – Italy vs Japan

Sunday 1 February | 12:00 UTC

Italy and Japan will meet in the Grand Final to decide the 2025 Nations Cup champion. Italy returns to the title match after winning the competition in 2023, continuing a strong record in the event built on depth, coordination and experience in team racing formats.

For Japan, this will be their first appearance in a Nations Cup Grand Final, marking an important milestone in the team’s progression within the competition. Their route to the final has been characterised by reliable execution and consistent performances across the various racing formats.

How they reached the finals

The 2025 eSailing Nations Cup featured eight national teams, competing through a format designed to test versatility, teamwork and decision-making across both fleet racing and head-to-head racing.

The competition unfolded in three stages:

  • Opening Fleet Races, used to establish the initial ranking
  • Group Stage, where teams competed in round-robin matches
  • Knockout Stage, determining finalists and classification matches

Italy and Japan progressed through the Knockout Stage to secure their places in the Grand Final, while France and Poland were eliminated at the semi-final stage and will now meet in the Petite Final.

Overall Classification

Following the conclusion of the Knockout Stage, the remaining positions were confirmed as follows:

Sweden finished the competition in fifth place, followed by Germany in sixth, Hungary in seventh, and Switzerland in eighth.

The final weekend will complete the 2025 eSailing Nations Cup, closing the season’s national team competition and providing a reference point for national programmes ahead of the next cycle.
