Watersports Inclusion Games 2025: A celebration of belonging on the water

The Watersports Inclusion Games returned this summer with a vibrant celebration of inclusion, belonging, and the joy of being on the water.

Hosted at Malahide Yacht Club, Co. Dublin, on 5–6 July, the event welcomed nearly 650 participants of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, supported by hundreds of volunteers and facilitators.

Now in its seventh year, the Games have established themselves as a flagship event for inclusive sport, showcasing how sailing and watersports can truly be open to everyone.

Across two relaxed, fun-filled days, participants enjoyed an extensive programme of activities including sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, canoeing, windsurfing, powerboating, snorkelling, diving, and even beach volleyball. With every session adapted to meet individual needs, no prior experience was required, ensuring that each person could participate fully and at their own pace.

A dedicated sensory area offered a calm, supportive space for those needing time away from the action, while creative touches such as face-painting added to the friendly and festive atmosphere. With safety teams and experienced instructors on hand, participants were able to try new sports with confidence and discover the freedom that comes from being on the water.

The Games once again highlighted the powerful role of volunteers, whose energy, kindness, and commitment created a welcoming environment and made the experience possible for so many. Their contribution ensured that every participant and family member felt included and supported throughout the weekend.

Since winning Project of the Year at the National Inclusion Awards in 2018, the Watersports Inclusion Games have gone from strength to strength. This year’s event delivered more than 1,000 water-based experiences, reinforcing its core message: with the right opportunities, watersports are for everyone.
