World Sailing congratulates new EUROSAF President Pınar Coşkuner Genç
World Sailing has congratulated Pınar Coşkuner Genç, Chair of the World Sailing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, following her election as the first female president of the European Sailing Federation (EUROSAF).
Quanhai Li, World Sailing President, said: “On behalf of World Sailing, I would like to send my deepest congratulations to Pınar Coşkuner Genç. We have worked together for many years, and we are delighted to see her take on such a prominent role in European sailing. She is a pioneering sailor, immensely talented official and a credit to the sport.
“The work EUROSAF does to develop the sport across the continent and support athletes at all levels is invaluable to our overall goals for sailing globally, and Pinar is an exceptional appointment who will bring a wealth of experience and a unique perspective to champion these objectives.”
Pınar Coşkuner Genç served as Principal Race Officer at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games – the first female race officer to hold this role – and was also a key member of the Tokyo 2020 Race Management Team, as well as being heavily involved in the sailing competition at both the Rio 2016 and London 2012 Olympic Games.
She has held the position of Chair of the World Sailing Development and Regions Committee and currently also sits on World Sailing’s Growth of Sailing Committee and Race Management Sub-Committee.
In 2016-2017, Pınar Coşkuner Genç was elected as Vice President of EUROSAF, becoming the first female to hold that position. She later became First Vice President.
