In Memoriam: Kamen Fillyov
The world of sailing is mourning the loss of Kamen Fillyov, who passed away recently after a long illness at the age of 79.
Professor Fillyov – a leading figure in the field of microelectronics – served the sport of sailing for many years, becoming an International Judge in 1989 and as a Council Member from 2000 to 2024. Within World Sailing, he was an active member of the World Sailing Racing Rules Committee, Events Committee, and Windsurfing Committee, where he was also Chair.
During an impressive career in sailing, he was also Vice-President of EUROSAF, President of Bulgarian Sailing Federation from 2000–2004 and later President of Honour of the Bulgarian Sailing Federation.
Kamen was loved and respected throughout the sport, always happy to share his knowledge of sailing and brought light to those who were fortunate to spend time with him.
He will be deeply missed by everyone at World Sailing and by everyone who worked with him.
