World Sailing Show Episode 4 highlights exciting sustainability efforts across the sport

The August episode of the World Sailing Show premiered on Saturday 27 August with a focus on how sailing has embraced sustainability.

The August episode of the World Sailing Show has premiered with a focus on how sailing has embraced sustainability.

In the main feature of Episode 4, we hear from World Sailing’s Head of Sustainability, Alexandra Rickham, about how sailing can make a big difference to the health of the seas and marine life around the world and highlights several innovative projects already in operation.

Nominations for the World Sailing 11th Hour Racing Sustainability Award are open until 2 September with the winners receiving a $10,000 USD prize to further their sustainability programme.

Episode 4 also shares the story of The VI Foundation, who recently teamed up with Team Switzerland at the Great Britain Sail Grand Prix in Plymouth to show their support for World Sailing’s #BacktheBid campaign to see sailing reinstated for the LA28 Paralympic Games. Sir Ben Ainslie also returned to UK waters during SailGP in Plymouth and the show caught up with him to find out the latest on his projects, his SailGP experience, and a recap of an exciting weekend of racing.

Also featured is an update on World Sailing’s Emerging Nations Programme, a profile of Dutch duo Laila van der Meer and Bjarne Bouwer, winners of the recent Nacra 17 Junior World Championships held on Lago di Como, Italy, about what it takes to become a champion on the elite racing catamarans, as well as the latest stories from the world of sailing.
