The first ever U25 Para Sailing World Championship will take place on the waters of Braassemermeer in The Netherlands from 19-22 July, and World Sailing are inviting all MNAs to apply for the preceding Para Sailing Development Programme (PDP) on 16-18 July.

The PDP will help prepare the Para Sailors for the upcoming Championship, giving them a chance to hone their skills on the Braassemermeer before the competition starts.

The focus of the programme is to prepare sailors for competition and will include workshops on boat handling and racing skills, rules and regatta management.

The program is open to nations whose both crew and helm are Para Sailors and any interested Nations should contact para.worldsailing@sailing.org to apply.

World Sailing will be providing a coach to run the clinic and will support MNAs by covering the clinic costs and supporting with accommodation throughout the Championship.

The deadline for MNAs wishing to formally register interest in participating is 15 June 2022.

Competing in the award-winning RS Venture Connect sailboat, an existing class of Para World Sailing equipment, the U25 Para Sailing World Championship is a new avenue for the growth of the sport as World Sailing continues to build pathways for Para Sailors.

World Sailing, along with Member National Associations, Class Associations and sailors across the globe, are campaigning to see sailing reinstated for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games. If successful, many of the talented young Para Sailors competing at Braassemermeer could be amongst the first fleet of competitors at LA28.
