A beautiful sunny day in Vilamoura delivered a light breeze in the afternoon on the second day of racing at the 2021 470 European Championship

The 81 teams sailed two races with a southerly 7-9 kt breeze.

In the Men’s fleet the New Zealanders Paul Snow-Hansen & Daniel Willcox moved into first place, with Spanish duo Jordi Xammar & Nicolas Rodriguez just two points behind. Olympic medallists Mat Belcher & Will Ryan (AUS) completed the top three.

In the Women’s fleet, the 2021 world champions Silvia Mas & Patricia Cantero (ESP) lead by 11 points after a very consistent day. The French team of Camille Lecointre & Aloise Retornaz dropped one place and are now in a close second, followed by the Brazilians Fernanda Oliveira and Ana Barbachan who had a fantastic day with two race wins.

For the 34 teams already selected to participate at Tokyo 2020, this event is their last major test before the Games.

The Mixed fleet saw big changes in the leaderboard: Nitai Hasson & Saar Tamir (ISR) stay in first, but are now followed by Amy Seabright & James Taylor, bronze medallists at the 2021 Worlds, and Louisa Nordstrom & Trevor Bornarth from USA in third place.
