2018 Annual Conference - 31 October - What's on the agenda?

Tuesday's action at the 2018 Annual Conference was packed full of meetings and events with the Future of Offshore and Keelboat Forum, the eSailing World Championship Final and the World Sailing Awards.

Tuesday’s action at the 2018 Annual Conference was packed full of meetings and events with the Future of Offshore and Keelboat Forum, the eSailing World Championship Final and the World Sailing Awards.

It’s back to business on Wednesday 31 October with another string of meetings that includes:
 
Racing Rules Committee
 
Rules experts from around the world will gather at the Racing Rules Committee to discuss dozens of submissions that propose change to the next edition of the Racing Rules of Sailing.
 
The next Racing Rules of Sailing will come into effect on 1 January 2021 and run through to 31 December 2024. Submissions to be discussed this year cover the depth and breadth of the publication.
 
Furthermore, the committee will consider submissions related to the Case and Call Books as well as the Equipment Rules of Sailing.
 
The committee will also receive reports on the numerous panels and working parties that report directly into them.

Equipment Committee
 
Equipment for the Paris 2024 Olympic Sailing Competition will be discussed by the Equipment Committee with several submissions on the table. Chaired by Dina Kowalyshyn (USA), the Equipment Committee will consider the submissions before making their recommendations to World Sailing’s Council.
 
Discussions on Youth Equipment and Paralympic Equipment will also take place  with updates from the Youth Events Sub-committee and the Para World Sailing Committee.
 
Safety in the sport continues to be a hot topic. World Sailing hosted a Safety in Sailing Forum on Monday – which can be viewed back by clicking here – and the committee will receive an update on World Sailing’s Safety Panel and the Sailors Safety Equipment Working Party.
 
The committee will also consider a class status application from the International Windsurfer Class Association.

Development and Regions Committee
 
Over the past 12-months, World Sailing’s Training and Development team has delivered numerous Technical Courses for Coaches clinics, Paralympic Development Program clinics, Emerging Nations Program clinics, a Development Symposium and Training Scholarship.
 
The Development and Regions Committee will receive reports on all the activities over the past 12 months and also look ahead to 2019 and what will be delivered to continue development of the sport.
 
In a closed session, they will also discuss reappointments of Nominated Experts (the coaches who deliver the clinics) and Regional Development Coordinator Redistribution.
