Day #1 Morning Report - How to Follow World Cup Series, Round 1 - Enoshima

After months of anticipation and preparations, the first World Cup Series event starts today out of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Sailing Competition venue in Enoshima, Japan.

After months of anticipation and preparations, the first World Cup Series event starts today out of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Sailing Competition venue in Enoshima, Japan.

Expectation heading into the opening day of racing are high. After several days and strong, consistent breeze with a swell that’s the talk of the boat park, the forecast for Tuesday’s action is strong.

A north north east breeze will be present across Sagami Bay coming in at 14-16 knots of breeze. Closer to the shore, the breeze will be shifty and weak but will be much more stable and stronger offshore. Wave height is expected to be one metre with some rough conditions expected closer to the shore.

Racing will take place across six racing areas. Enoshima, the Medal Race area, is directly off of the venue with Kamakura in front of some of the local beaches. The Zushi, Fujisawa, Sagami and Hayama areas are further offshore.
