Italians off to perfect start at Youth Match Racing World Championship

Italy's Ettore Botticini sailing with Lorenzo Gennari and Simone Busonero got off to a perfect start at the Youth Match Racing World Championship in Ledro, Italy.

Italy’s Ettore Botticini sailing with Lorenzo Gennari and Simone Busonero got off to a perfect start at the Youth Match Racing World Championship in Ledro, Italy.

The Italian team ended the day with seven victories and zero defeats to sit atop of the Round Robin at the early stages of the competition.
 
The Piazza Mülleheim in Ledro welcomed 12 teams from 11 nations the day prior to officially open the Championship and the opening day’s conditions on Lake Ledro were idyllic to start the competition.
 
Eleven flights were held, resulting in 44 completed matches between some of the world’s finest youth match racers.
 
The Italians were perfect but following closely behind them with six wins and a loss are the American team skippered by Christopher Weis with New Zealand’s team led by Nick Egnot-Johnson following.
