World Sailing's eight-week Training Scholarship reaches midpoint

World Sailing’s eight-week Training Scholarship has reached the midway point for the seven coaches participating in Weymouth, Great Britain.

Primarily held out of the venue of the London 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition, the Training Scholarship is being delivered by a number of World Sailing’s Nominated Experts and Development Coordinators. Covering a wide range of subjects, both practical and theoretical, the attendees will return home with the knowledge to provide their World Sailing Member National Authority (MNA) with a sustainable National Sail Training program for the future.
 
The candidates have united from across the world, including Argentina, Egypt, Malaysia, Moldova, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Samoa and Venezuela.
 
The coaches attending are:

• Nicholas Dupre (Saint Kitts and Nevis)
• Frank Gutierrez (Venezuela)
• Raema von Reiche (Samoa)
• Nik Ashraf Qaedi Nik Azizan (Malaysia)
• Hernan Vilá (Argentina)
• Essameldin Elwy Abdelaziz Ibrahim Seifeldin (Egypt)
• Alexandr Denisiuc (Moldova)

 
All with a background in sailing, the seven participants have touched on a number of modules throughout the first few weeks, including environmental awareness, technical courses for coaches as well as information on Para World Sailing.
 
Further theoretical and practical classes will be delivered over the next few weeks and World Sailing will be following the candidates on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 September.
