Day #3 Morning Report - Para World Sailing Championships - How to follow

The third day of the Para World Sailing Championships, held alongside Kieler Woche (Kiel Week) sailing festival could be a wet and windy affair.

The third day of the Para World Sailing Championships, held alongside Kieler Woche (Kiel Week) sailing festival could be a wet and windy affair.

A 17-19 knot westerly breeze gusting up to 25 knots is forecast and will certainly challenge the sailors from 39 nations racing across the Open 2.4 Norlin OD, Men’s Hansa 303 and Women’s Hansa 303, all One Person Keelboats.

Just one race in the 2.4 Norlin OD was possible on Thursday due to light wind. Three races for each fleet are scheduled for Friday as the race management team look to catch up on lost races.

Racing will commence at 12:00 local time.

From Thursday’s single 2.4 Norlin OD race, the victory went the way of Bjornar Erikstad (NOR) who led from start to finish. He is sixth overall. France’s Damien Seguin followed in second and occupies the gold medal position.

In the Men’s and Women’s Hansa 303, the scores from the opening day remain. Christopher Symonds (AUS) holds the Men’s Hansa 303 lead after two victories ahead of Polish Rio 2016 Paralympian Piotr Cichocki.

France’s Magali Moraines is in first place overall on four points and Spain’s Violeta del Reino is two behind having received a discretionary penalty on the opening day.
