Qualification System for 2018 World Cup Series released

The qualification system for the 2018 World Cup Series, the pinnacle Series of Olympic class racing, has been published.

The 2018 World Cup Series will consist of three Rounds for all 10 Olympic Events plus, when possible, Paralympic and Kiteboarding Events. The Series will culminate with a European Final.

Gamagori, Japan will host the first Round of the upcoming 2018 Series from 15-22 October 2017 with Miami, USA following from 21-28 January 2018 before the third Round in Hyeres, France from 22-29 April 2018. A European Final will conclude the series.

Qualification for the 2018 World Cup Series is based on World Sailing rankings and two qualification events:
 
Princess Sofia Trophy: Mallorca, Spain from 24 March to 1 April 2017.
Delta Lloyd Regatta: Medemblik, The Netherlands from 23 to 27 May 2017.
 
Winners of the 2017 Final and the winners of the three 2018 Rounds in Gamagori, Miami and Hyeres will book their place on the start line of the 2018 Final. Remaining spots will qualify for the Final through a Series Score accumulated over the three Rounds.

Top ranked teams will be sent an invitation to compete in the Series on 30 April 2017. Invitations to individual Rounds will be available later in the year, again offered to top ranked teams.

2018/19: Japan (October 2018), Miami (January 2019), Europe Round (May-June) + European Final
