The last racing day provided the sailors with light wind, offering the 2016 Worlds the widest possible sailing conditions and crowning true allround champions, taking 7 bullets from 14 on offer.

Race Officer, Teodoro “Kiko” Kundig, and his shore team were close to fulfilling the 15 race schedule, with only “El Pampero” wind blowing out Wednesday completely.

From a class perspective, it was a really great satisfaction to see the skill level of the top teams on show. There was also the presence of four different designs and builders in the first four places of the championship showcasing the fairness of the Formula 18, designed some 23 years ago.

There was also the first mixed team competing in the Worlds who finally finished in seventh position despite being around the podium places all regatta.

The class wished to say a big warm thank you to all the YCA board, staff, and volunteers for providing F18 sailors with a top quality event. There was also thanks to the Argentinian F18 Association and Chair Martin Vanzulli for their full involvement in preparing the first ever Worlds sailed in South America.
