Action stations for final day + How to follow the Paralympic Sailing Competition

The final day of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Sailing Competition is upon us and one race in each of the three fleets will bring the event to a close.

Australia have wrapped up gold in the SKUD18 and the Sonar fleets with silver and bronze to be decided. In the 2.4 Norlin, it’s still wide open with a number of possible outcomes.
 
The Flamengo Beach spectator zone is a sell-out for the final day with 3,000 fans expected to come down for the day. The Sonar fleet will start the racing at 12:00 local time followed by the SKUD18 at 13:00 and the 2.4 Norlin OD at 14:00.
 
Yesterday’s cloud cover remains with some showers expected but the wind conditions are set to be some of the heaviest seen so far at the Paralympic Sailing Competition. Starting 10 knots, the breeze will increase to 17-23 with gusts upwards of 28 knots.

RIO 2016 PARALYMPIC SAILING COMPETITION

The Rio 2016 Paralympic Sailing Competition will take place at the Marina da Glória, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and will feature 80 athletes from 23 nations competing across three events. Racing is scheduled to take place from 12-17 September 2016 and the competition format for all events is fleet racing.
