Nearing the end zone + How to follow the Paralympic Sailing Competition

After days of beating Brazilian sunshine, sailors arose at the Paralympic Village to a Rio de Janeiro covered in cloud with a bit of light drizzle in the air.

After days of beating Brazilian sunshine, sailors arose at the Paralympic Village to a Rio de Janeiro covered in cloud with a bit of light drizzle in the air.

The scheduled cold front has arrived in Rio and the grey skies are set to remain throughout the day. In terms of breeze, a south easterly will increase to around 9 knots for the start of racing increasing slightly before dropping at the end of the day.

All three Paralympic fleets are on schedule and a 13:00 start is on the cards across two racing areas.

The SKUD18 and 2.4 Norlin OD will start racing at 13:00 local time on the Pao de Acucar (Sugarloaf Mountain) course area. Meanwhile, on Escola Naval, the Sonar will commence at 13:00 local time.

Dan Fitzgibbon and Liesl Tesch (AUS) have an opportunity to wrap up gold on the penultimate day. Sitting 15 points clear of the chasing pack, two top results will ensure they defend the crown they won convincingly at London 2012.

In the Sonar, Australia’s Colin Harrison, Russell Boaden and Jonathan Harris are ten points clear and could also wrap up gold with a day to spare.

Competition in the 2.4 Norlin OD is much closer and just one point separates Australia’s Matt Bugg and Great Britain’s Helena Lucas.

Throughout the day World Sailing will be updating you via our Live Blog, through the 2D and 3D tracking as well as via our social media channels. Find out how to follow below.
