Norwegian Sailing Team recruiting Sports Manager

The Norwegian Sailing Federation is presently seeking a new sports manager who will have a central role in elevating Norwegian sail racing both nationally and internationally.

The Norwegian Sailing Federation (NSF) has 25,000 members in 118 clubs across the country. NSF is the highest authority within the Norwegian yachting community with special responsibility for elite sport, education and recruitment. NSF is affiliated to the Norwegian Sports Confederation and the Olympic and Paralympic Committee. Our offices are located at Ullevaal Stadium, Oslo.

Sports Manager

The sports manager will head the sporting division within NSF and have strategic responsibility for the broad competitive sport, as well as operational responsibility for elite sport and the Norwegian Sailing Team. Through close cooperation with the Secretary General, the Board and Commercial Director, the sports manager will also be involved in efforts to ensure favourable conditions for the development of Norwegian sailing. The position reports to the Secretary General and is initially a 4 year contract up until the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

Responsibilities

• Develop goals and strategy for the elite within the Norwegian Sailing Team.

• Daily management of the sports division in NSF

o Responsible for finance as well as coaches and athletes in the elite sports model

• Responsible for creating a performance culture

o Contribute to the highest possible quality in the day to day training

o Contribute to the quality of relationships; coach/athlete and within the    Norwegian Sailing Team

o Contribute to the quality of sporting events

• Contribute and set the direction in recruiting to elite sport.

o Contribute to the creation of strong regional centers that strengthens the overall recruitment to elite sailing in Norway.

• Be a contact between Norwegian elite sailing and Olympiatoppen.

Qualifications

The applicant must have higher education, experience of elite sport, be able to communicate well in English, both written and orally and should have experience in budgeting and finance as well as organization and management. Knowledge of the sport is an advantage, but not a requirement.

We are looking for a results-oriented sports manager with excellent communication skills, a motivational leader who contributes to create results through commitment and systematic work. It is also desirable that the person has commercial understanding.
