That Golden Moment - Jens Kroker

Jens Kroker led his German crew to a gold medal on the waters of Qingdao at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

In a tight competition where the top five were separated by just three points, Kroker wasn’t expecting a good regatta, “We went in to it with negative momentum.”

The negative momentum turned as the German team of Kroker, Robert Prem and Siegmund Mainka won by one point.

“It’s a mental and emotional explosion that you feel once you hear your national anthem that is played just for you,” explained Kroker.

Unfortunately the team has had to change heading in to Rio 2016 with Prem suffering a stroke earlier in the year. He has been replaced by former 2.4 Norlin OD sailor, Lasse Klotzing.

The Rio 2016 Paralympic Games will take place between 7-18 September in Rio de Janeiro and the sailing is scheduled to be raced between 12-17 September in Guanabara Bay.
