From 5 September to 22 October, candidates from six National Olympic Committees (NOCs) are to take part in the 2016 World Sailing Training Scholarship held at the World Sailing Executive Office in Southampton, Great Britain.

Covering a wide range of subjects, both practical and theoretical, the attendees will return home with the knowledge to provide their World Sailing Member National Authority (MNA) with a sustainable National Sail Training program going forward.

The NOC’s of Romania, Ukraine, Myanmar, Fiji and The Dominican Republic have supported IOC Olympic Solidarity funding applications for their candidates to attend the seven week program, knowing that previous candidates have gone on to play significant roles in their own national training programs and the promotion of the sport. A privately funded candidate from Japan will also be present on the Scholarship.

The Scholarship is designed for those already working within an MNA and who have an influence on the future of Training and Development within the region. Following completion of the program, candidates will receive dedicated support and mentoring from World Sailing Nominated Experts to ensure the full benefit of the training can be used.
