Nominations closing soon for World Sailing Committees, Sub-committees and Commissions

The deadline is fast approaching for World Sailing to accept nominations for membership of Committees, Sub-Committees and Commissions for 2017-2020. Nominations must be received by 12:00 UTC on 1 August 2016.

The Committees, together with their Sub-Committees and Commissions, are a vital part of the World Sailing structure, providing input on their areas of expertise onto the Council, which is the final decision making body of World Sailing. The Committees represent the many diverse aspects of the sailing world, from Race Officials and the Racing Rules of Sailing through to Events and Equipment, and Youth and Development.
 
Nominations for Committee, Sub-Committee and Commission members must be submitted to the World Sailing Executive Office through a World Sailing Member National Authority (MNA). MNAs have already been sent individual correspondence regarding the nomination procedure for Committee, Sub-Committee and Commission members. The deadline for receipt of nomination forms is 12:00 UTC on 1 August 2016. Please contact your relevant MNA for details on how they select candidates or if you wish to make a recommendation for a Committee member – details of World Sailing MNAs and how to get in contact with them can be found at http://www.sailing.org/mna
 
The Committee, Sub-Committee and Commission members automatically retire on the 1 February 2017 and are eligible for re-nomination or new candidates can be nominated.

About the General Assembly
 
The General Assembly of World Sailing takes places every four years. It is on this occasion that the World Sailing Board of Directors (President and Vice-Presidents) and members of the World Sailing Council automatically retire.
 
All full World Sailing Member National Authorities (MNAs) are entitled to be represented at the General Assembly and to vote for the new President and the seven Vice-Presidents.
 
MNAs can nominate members for the World Sailing Board of Directors, Council, Committees, Sub-Committees and Commissions.
 
The next World Sailing General Assembly will take place on Sunday 13 November 2016 from 09:30 – 13:30.
