The Laser and Laser Radial Medal Races at the London 2012 Olympic Games witnessed some compelling racing on the Nothe course in Weymouth and Portland, Great Britain.
The Laser and Laser Radial Medal Races at the London 2012 Olympic Games witnessed some compelling racing on the Nothe course in Weymouth and Portland, Great Britain.
Tom Slingsby (AUS) beautifully controlled Pavlos Kontides (CYP) to confirm gold. The Cypriot remained in silver medal position to seal his nations first Olympic medal whilst Rasmus Myrgren (SWE) completed the podium.
It was a tense, high pressure race in the Laser Radial as Lijia Xu of China came out on top in a winner take all Medal Race. Marit Bouwmeester (NED) followed in for silver with Evi Van Acker (BEL) rounding off the podium. Having led for the most part of the week, it was heartbreak for Ireland’s Annalise Murphy who finished off the podium.
