Drama on final day of RS:One Euros

The RS:One Class, in partnership with the FFV and the Cercle Nautique de Loctudy, is organised its 2016 European Championships from 4th to 9th July in Loctudy, France.

The championship, open to all, allowed European racers to compete through innovative race formats like The Pulsar (compact slalom, America’s Cup style) and Marathon (long distance). Courses were set up in a way that the on-shore audience enjoyed the races.

The RS:One is a multi generational, one-design windsurfing board featuring an easy and light performing 7.8 rig. Espoirs (youth under 22 years old), Seniors (under 40 year old) and Masters (older than 40), men and women, can race together on the same starting line in a collective fleet.

Despite a promising forecast, only 8 knots of winds and overcast sky welcomed the racers for the day of racing.

Three “Regatta” races were on the menu for the last day of competition with 8 knots of breeze requiring tactical and physical skills.

The drama came from the women’s fleet. Postec Taina led the whole week but lost her first place after an attack from Lebars Louise who claimed the 2016 European tittle. Marsaudon Capucine finish third.

In the Men’s fleet, Jolivet Maxence took third place, Abiven Maxime finished second and Salette Florian took the European Championship title.
