Megan Pascoe has added European Championship gold to her 2.4mR Open World Championship in Bordeaux, France.

Pascoe fended off a tough challenge from 2015 World Champion and 2004 Paralympic Champion Damien Seguin at the 2.4mR Open Europeans.

Pascoe sailed a consistent regatta amid challenging and shifty conditions at the French venue to post all scores inside the top four across the nine-race series, beating Seguin by a single point to retain her European title.

“I’ve finally got both Worlds and Europeans in the same year!” commented Pascoe.

“It’s been a really tough week, the fleet was really good down to about 15th.  Bordeaux is a very nice place, very warm, but ridiculously shifty, ridiculously difficult to work out where you’re going to come from next, so I’ve had some pretty tough races but am happy to have everything inside the top four.”

“I came out all guns firing on the first day which helped a lot,” Pascoe continued.  “Having Damien chasing me was very, very difficult.  He’s very good, and I just managed to hold on to [the win] – it was a bit tricky at times!”

“It’s been a really good week, it’s really positive for wherever we go next and whatever sailing we’re doing next, and it’s a great start to the summer.”
