After a challenging first day in strong winds, the second day of the 2016 Delta Lloyd Regatta in Medemblik, Wednesday is just the opposite and could prove to be as challenging, but for very different reasons…no wind.

Overnight, the strong winds have disappeared and the IJsselmeer is a much calmer place this morning. Currently there is a very light wind in place, and very patchy in places. The race teams expect there to be some disruption to the schedule, but at the moment is planning to start on time.

Schedule for the day:
10.30 470 M/W (2 races)
10.30 Sonar (2 races)
11.00 Laser Radial (2 races)
11.00 RS-X Men (3 races)
11.30 Skud 18 (2 races)
13.00 49er M/W(3 races)
13.00 2.4 Norlin OD (2 races)
13.30 Laser (2 races)
13.30 RS-X Women (3 races)

Colin Harrison (AUS), currently in second place in the Sonar class in the 2016 Para World Sailing Championships said of racing in Medemblik, “It’s a good place to sail. We always have good racing here with the other classes and our fellow competitors, and it’s great to have such a good turnout. Nearly all our key competitors from Rio are here.”

Hopefully he will get to race along with the other 338 sailors today.

In total there are 339 sailors competing this year in 192 Olympic class boats and 59 Paralympic class boats. In addition, on Thursday the Moth class starts its three day event, while on Saturday there are events for the 29er and the Optimist.
