The Business
World Sailing is the world governing body for the sport of sailing, officially recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

World Sailing is responsible for: the promotion of the sport internationally, managing sailing at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, developing the Racing Rules of Sailing and regulations for all sailing competitions, the training of judges, umpires and other administrators, the development of the sport around the world and representing the sailors in all matters concerning the sport.

The Role
We are seeking a full time PHP Developer to work closely with our website and online solutions supplier. You will join World Sailing in a unique role as part of the team that deliver our website, database and other technical online resources.  Working towards many projects including the Sailor Classification system, Race Officials application program, the 2016 Olympic Sailing Competition and beyond; you will be a valuable member of the World Sailing Staff.

The Candidate
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Technical and Offshore. We are looking for an excellent and confident communicator, who is able to work well in a team environment and demonstrate effective project management.  You will be a highly motivated individual who can work autonomously and able to deal with the day-to-day pressures of deadlines. Candidates must have:
•    A minimum of 4 years in a PHP development role
•    Good knowledge of PHP (OO), MySQL, HTML, JavaScript and Ajax
•    Experience of using Zend framework, JQuery and SVN
•    Good understanding of common testing and documentation practices
•    Good time-keeping and communication skills

The ideal candidate will be of graduate calibre and excellent in mathematics and problem solving.  A minimum of 4 years commercial experience is expected, but exceptions may be made depending on the merits of the applicants work or qualifications. Knowledge of sailing or similar sports is a distinct advantage.
