Sailing World Cup Melbourne has arrived at St Kilda Foreshore

Over 900 competitors are starting to hit the St Kilda foreshore in preparation for one of Victoria’s top sporting events, the ISAF Sailing World Cup. 12:00 local time on Wednesday 9 December sees the first warning signal officially kicking off the first race of the Sailing World Cup at its new venue, the St Kilda sailing precinct.

The St Kilda foreshore has been transformed and is now starting to look like a regatta, containers from all over the world have arrived and are being unloaded.  Sailors have landed, acclimatising to Melbourne’s warm temperatures and exploring their new surrounds for the week ahead.

Australian Sailing Squad members will be out in force sailing in some of the Olympic classes taking part at the World Cup.  The conditions are looking great for the duration of the World Cup, with good winds forecast for the week.

Thursday sees the invited classes commencing, the junior and youth sailors of these classes are the up and coming talent within our country and the world.  This is a week where these aspiring young sailors can share the boat park and water with some of their idols.

Bring your family down to St Kilda for a unique experience.  With so much happening on and around the foreshore, from the beach or the pier, the Sailing World Cup will be a great spectacle.

Sailing will take place from 12:00 each day until around 18:00.
