The Royal Yacht Club of Victoria is ready, the 142 sailors are ready, and the officials are ready so now it is time to race at the Para World Sailing Championships in Williamstown.
Cloudy skies welcomed the sailors this morning but the Australian sunshine materialised at 12:00 local time as the sailors in the 2.4mR, SKUD18 and Sonar finalised their preparations.
As they headed out into Port Phillip the flags around the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria began to show signs of movement as the breeze began to develop.
A seven know westerly is expected on the bay which will make for some tactical racing on the opening day of competition.
You can’t win a regatta on an opening day but you sure can damage your chances so the competitors will be aiming to start the foundation to support them over the 11-race series.
The Sonars will sail on the western course area, southwest point of Gellibrand, the SKUD18 will race on Port Melbourne course area whilst the 2.4mR sailors are on Hobsons Bay flats.
