World Sailing's Training Scholarship wrapped up in the middle of October with candidates from Antigua, Hungary, Poland, Tunisia and Sudan participating in the seven week course.

World Sailing’s Training Scholarship wrapped up in the middle of October with candidates from Antigua, Hungary, Poland, Tunisia and Sudan participating in the seven week course.

Primarily held out of the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, the venue of the London 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition the scholarship was delivered by a number of ISAF’s Nominated Experts. Guest speakers from Cyprus, Ireland, Great Britain, Portugal, South Africa and the USA presented to the candidates alongside discipline experts from kiteboarding, windsurfing and yachting.

The candidates were:
•    Omnia Magdi Ahmed Ali – Sudan
•    Karim Achour – Tunisia
•    David Brencsan – Hungary
•    Seweryn Kosznik – Poland
•    Kelvin Brown – Antigua

All with a background in sailing the five participants touched on a number of modules throughout the seven weeks including environmental awareness, technical course for coaches as well as information on Para World Sailing, WADA and UNICEF safeguarding guidelines.

Scholarship candidates now go back to their Member National Authority and work on their short, mid and long term development plans to provide a sustainable program with full support of World Sailing’s Training and Development department.
