Lees Tops The Billing At February Match Race

The ISAF Grade 3 February Match Race wrapped up at Club Nautico Scarlino, Italy with World #23 Mark Lees (GBR) coming out on top.

Nine teams from seven different nations battled it out on the waters of the Gulf of Follonica in a rain riddled weekend that featured a strong southerly breeze. Despite the bad weather, which forced the Race Committee to make several course changes, a full round robin was played out with 36 races.

Lees finished tied on seven points with World #17 Tomislav Basic (CRO) but having beaten the Croatian the title went to the Briton.

The third step of the podium was picked up by Tuscan sailor Piero Romeo whilst fourth place went to the youngest skipper in the regatta, David Marrella who had the talented 470 tactician Matteo Pilati on-board.

The event was organized by the Club Nautico Scarlino in collaboration with Millenium Sails and technical support of Marina di Scarlino and Scarlino Yacht Service .
