Two hundred twenty-nine entrants representing 33 countries attended the Miami Midwinter Regatta, hosted by the Coconut Grove Sailing Club on January 17-19 in Miami.

Racing was held on five separate courses with light to moderate winds on Biscayne Bay over the three days of competition. Many sailors used the event as a warm up for ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami, 26 January – 1 February.

The ever consistent Mat Belcher and Will Ryan (AUS) came out on top of the Men’s 470 fleet. World Champions Lara Vadlau and Jolanta Ogar (AUT) won the Women’s 470 with a score line of top five results.

The British dominated the 49er class taking three of the top four spots, John Pink and Stuart Bithell outshone their fellow compatriots to take the win. Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze (BRA) piped Kiwi team Alexandra Maloney and Molly Meech for the 49erFX top spot.

Mandy Mulder and Coen de Koning (NED) convincingly beat the Nacra 17 fleet with a 24 point lead over new British pairing John Gimson and Hannah Diamond (GBR).

Bryony Shaw (GBR) conquered the Women’s RS:X fleet with six race wins in a row to beat fellow team mate Isobel Hamilton (GBR) to a comfortable win. Wonwoo Cho (KOR) topped the Men’s RS:X fleet closely followed by Shahar Zubari (ISR).
