Last Call For 2015 ISAF Development Symposium Registration

The 2015 ISAF Development Symposium in New Orleans, USA is taking place at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel from 19-21 January 2015 with registration open until Monday 5 January.

For a registration form and further details please contact the ISAF Training and Development department here.

The 2015 ISAF Development Symposium will be hosted in collaboration with US Sailing. All international delegates are also invited to continue their stay in New Orleans for an additional 3 days in order to attend the US Sailing National Sailing Programs Symposium (NSPS). Full details of the event and details for registering can be found via the US Sailing website here.

Jack Gierhart, Executive Director of US Sailing commented on the upcoming event, “US Sailing is excited to be welcoming ISAF and our fellow MNAs to New Orleans, a part of our country with a long tradition of sailing. We look forward to introducing our partners from around the world to the innovators in sailing education in the U.S. and discussing ways in which our organizations can work together to grow the sport of sailing globally.”

International delegation size is limited to a maximum of two representatives per MNA and delegates need to be formally endorsed by the National Sailing Federation (ISAF MNA) of their country before they can attend.

Over 30 delegates from 18 nations will be in attendance with many of the delegates planning to stay on for the US Sailing NSPS event.

The Development Symposium page of the ISAF website includes a draft schedule outlining all discussion workshops and presentation sessions. These include:
-History of US Sailing and recent developments in the National Training Programme
-Examples of MNA achievements and regional development initiatives.
-Developing National Sailing Coach Certification / Qualification Frameworks
-Increased development of Disabled Sailing programmes
-2015 ISAF Youth Worlds Emerging Nations Programme (YW ENP)
-ISAF Approved Training Centres and ISAF Recognized Training for MNAs
-Inclusivity in Sailing – The gender balance.
-Introduction to the US Sailing ‘Reach Program’
-International Kiteboard Training Programme overview

Dan Jaspers, ISAF Training and Development Manager commented, “Our members have always asked for ‘added value’ in events which ISAF hosts and, by enabling our international delegates to take part in a very popular national event that our MNA in the US puts on each year, the NSPS, we are giving our members a chance to mix with over 300 sail training programmes developers, coaches, community sailing project volunteers as well as invited guest speakers and other MNAs. The ability to share information with other like-minded persons from within the industry is a key to not just generating ideas on how to do things differently but to help re-assure delegates that they are not all facing unique issues to growing participation in sailing. The sense of community is tangible at these events and I encourage all those MNAs that have not yet registered to do so if they can. I look forward to seeing each and every one of them in New Orleans in January.”
