ISAF Recognized Training Accreditation For Turkey

The Turkish Sailing Federation has successfully undergone an accreditation audit of their National Sail Training Program (TUYEP).

The Turkish Sailing Federation becomes the 11th ISAF MNA to undergo this process, which involves a national sailing federation working with the International Sailing Federation in ‘mapping’ their National Sail Training Programme against an international agreed framework of ‘best practice’ guidelines. Turkey will join ISAF MNAs in Great Britain, New Zealand, Italy, Austria, Oman, Spain, France, the Netherlands, South Africa and Singapore in delivering internationally recognized sail training.

The ISAF Recognized Training Accreditation audit was carried out by ISAF Nominated Expert Andy Jeffrey (GBR).

President of the Turkish Sailing Federation, M. Serhat Belli said of the accreditation, “We have worked hard and achieved a lot in the relatively short duration of 4 years since we established our National Sail Training Program in Turkey. We have always had the support of our clubs and training centres which have taken part in the program very willingly and who in turn have helped us shape out program for Turkey’s needs. Gaining the status of ‘ISAF Recognized Training’ really shows our nation and us that, what we have created, and what our training centres and clubs are applying is at an international level, in a way acting as quality control and reassurance. Consequently, this will strengthen our program even more and furthermore will help increase the level of sailing in Turkey.”

Deniz Karamanoglu, National Training Manager of Turkish Sailing Federation and recent addition to the team of ISAF Nominated Experts added, “After all the work and thought we have put towards creating and applying our National Training program, to finally gain the ISAF recognized training status is exhilarating for us. The ISAF Training and Development department made it very easy for us to prepare for the audit and guided us clearly throughout the path leading up to the recognition. Having ISAF recognize our program will be of great help in promoting sailing in Turkey and improving the learning and teaching standards for those participating in our sail training programs.”
