Marrai Handles Big Scarlino Breeze
Two days of strong southern breeze marked the last ISAF Grade 3 match racing event in 2014 organised by the Club Nautico and Marina di Scarlino. Eight teams from four nations faced off in Maremma racing on the Beneteau 750s.

Two days of strong southern breeze marked the last ISAF Grade 3 match racing event in 2014 organised by the Club Nautico and Marina di Scarlino. Eight teams from four nations faced off in Maremma racing on the Beneteau 750s.
Francesco Marrai (ITA) came out on top after he took six wins and suffered only one defeat.
Finland’s Oli-Pekka Lumijarvi, World #21, picked up five wins and two defeats which was not enough to win, even if calling tactics on board was former America’s Cup sailor, Sten Mohr (DEN). In third place was Switzerland’s Nelson Mettreaux, with five victories and two defeats. The Race Committee was able to complete a full round robin, with all 28 matches taking place.
Club Nautico Scarlino’s intense 2015 match racing season will continue with 5 new match racing events, just to confirm that Marina di Scarlino is one of the most famous Italian match racing centers.
