Maria Turin (SLO) Takes The Lead At Opti Worlds

It was another very long day on the water for the sailors at the 2014 Optimist World Championships with delays in the morning waiting for the breeze to fill in on the water.

Once again the current was strong and played a part in the day, with many sailors forced over the starting line. However, with six races now completed, the worst score can be discarded and for many that is a BFD.

Mara Turin (SLO) has moved into the lead with an almost perfect score of 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, (13), followed by Nick Zeitner (SUI) just eight points behind and Nicolas Rolaz (SUI)  furth three points behind. Europe is dominating the field at the moment taking the first secen spots but there is still a long way to go.

Saturday sees a change of format with the start of the team racing where over 40 teams, on two courses, begin their bid to become the Optimist Team Racing World Champions.
