The conditions on the third day of ISAF Sailing World Cup Qingdao are contrasting of the second day with changes afoot.

Strong breeze, foggy skies and waves have been replaced with light winds, sunshine and a less harsh current.

A light breeze around 7-9 knots maximum will slowly shift from north to south as the day goes on which will make things tough for the Race Committees. The strong current of the days prior is still there but will peak at 1.6 knots as opposed to the 2.5 knots on Wednesday.

Going into the third day of racing the scores are tight in the Men’s 470 with Panagiotis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis (GRE) tied on seven points with Spain’s Jordi Xammar and Joan Herp. In the Women’s 470 Wei Mengxi and Xu Yani (CHN) are top of the pack.

Tonci Stipanovic (CRO), Pavlos Kontides (CYP) and Wannes Van Laer (BEL) continue to hold the top three spots in the Laser whilst Tatiana Drozdovskaya (BLR) leads the Radial by one point over Tina Mihelic (CRO).

Byron Kokkalanis (GRE) has a comfortable 16 point lead in the Men’s RS:X whilst Olga Maslivets (RUS) has an 11 point advantage in the Women’s RS:X.

Racing is scheduled to commence at 13:00 local time.
