An ISAF Level 1 Technical Course for Participation related coaches was successfully hosted by the Hungarian Yachting Association (HYA) at Balatonfüred Yacht Club, Lake Balaton, Hungary between 29 September and 4 October.
The course was conducted by ISAF Nominated Experts Tim Cross (GBR) and Bart Van Roessel (NED). The 20 participants learnt both new techniques of delivering sail training sessions afloat and on shore as well as helped the Hungarian MNA create a strategy for developing sailing at a national level.
András Holczhauser, HYA Secretary General said of the course, ”The outcome of ISAF Level 1 Training Course for Coaches delivered in Balatonfüred has been way beyond my expectations. The ISAF nominated experts have delivered the course with such levels of enthusiasm and energy that it fastinated all participants. I have no doubt that this training will effect there future careers. The preparedness and commitment of the experts was unquestionable.
”It has clearly outlined the structure of coach developmet and added planty of helpfull hints to our federation (HYA) on how to build a sustainable and effective system here in Hungary. We are continuing the work to incorporate the new information and I can not wait to organize the next workshop in 2015! ISAF, please keep in touch and thank you once again.”
ISAF Nominated Expert Tim Cross added the following, “It has been a rewarding week working with the HYA coaches. It is exciting be part of a process which future sailors, sailing clubs and coaches will all benefit from. For me, the highlight of the week were the on-water games sessions, played during day four of the course, duck chase being a particular favourite of mine. The enthusiasm, commitment and willingness of the participants involved to discuss fresh ideas and create solutions to aid future training will certainly create sustainable foundations for the HYA National Training Programme.”
