Croatia's Tina Mihelic has won gold at the Laser Radial World Championship in Rizhao City, China having sailed a strong, consistent regatta.
Croatia’s Tina Mihelic has won gold at the Laser Radial World Championship in Rizhao City, China having sailed a strong, consistent regatta.
The Croatian recorded two race victories throughout the 12 race series that included six qualifying races and six final series races.
Runner-up Tuula Tenkanen (FIN) and third place Paige Railey (USA) both notched up three race victories a piece but Mihelic proved that consistency is always key as she counted scores in the top eight to amass a points total of 39, four ahead of Tenkanen.
Railey had set the early pace in Rizhao City but was left to rue a counting an 18th place having had to retire in the fourth race of the final series. Nonetheless a deserved bronze medal went the Americans way.
