Consistent Dutch Display On Opening Day Of Flying Dutchman Worlds
Two races were successfully completed in fresh winds on the first day of racing at the 2013 Flying Dutchman World Championship in Balatonföldvár, Hungary.
Two races were successfully completed in fresh winds on the first day of racing at the 2013 Flying Dutchman World Championship in Balatonföldvár, Hungary.
The opening race win went the way of Danish brothers Jörgen and Jacob Bojsen-Moller but they were black flagged in the second race after a premature start to push them down to 40th.
The second race win went the way of nine times World Champions Szabolcs Majthényi and András Domokos (HUN) who sit third overall. The Hungarians took their first Flying Dutchman World title at the 1994 Worlds in Adelaide, Australia. Having competed in 14 World Championships they also have four silver medals and only finished off the podium once in 2007.
Leading the way with a consistent display is Dutch duo Enno Kramer and Ard Geelkerken. Notching up two second places gives them an early advantage with plenty of racing to come.
An 85-boat fleet is competing out of Spartacus Sailing Club with 19 nations represented in the fleet.
Another seven races are planned to be completed this week.
