Paul Tingley At Forefront Of Canadian Paralympic Team

The Canadian Yachting Association is pleased to announce the following Paralympic sailors who will be nominated to the Canadian Paralympic Committee for inclusion on the 2012 Canadian Paralympic Team.

2.4mR – One-person keelboat – Paul Tingley

SKUD18 – Two-person keelboat – John McRoberts and Stacie Louttit

Sonar – Three-person keelboat – Bruce Millar, Logan Campbell and Scott Lutes

Tingley is the most experienced sailor on the team having made his debut at Sydney 2000 where he won gold in the Sonar. And 12 years on his passion for the cause remains, “Going into my fourth Games, the excitement and challenge does not dissipate at all. The Canadian trials were tough, but they set you up to rival against the best in the world with the high hopes of winning Gold again.”

John McRoberts and Stacie Louttit took SKUD18 bronze at Beijing 2008 whilst the Sonar trio make their Paralympic debut.

Canadian Yachting Association Executive Director, Paddy Boyd, said, “Our sailing athletes have worked long and hard to arrive at the pinnacle of their sport, represented by the Olympic and Paralympic regattas. We wish them every success at the Games and assure them of our continuing support.”

The Paralympic Sailing Competition will run from 1-6 September 2012 at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.
